Bye Bye Biliruben

Aberly was a bit jaundiced at birth so we had to put her under a biliruben light. To see the old model that Ryan-pants had to use, click here. This one was pretty nice, consisting of a lighted blanket connected to a box by a large tube. Unlike the old model, we were able to hold her and feed her while she was getting her treatments.

Anyway, after two days in the blanket we've finally said bye bye to it. Aberly now has a clean bill of health.

Ryan's First Big Boo-Boos

Ryan-pants had his first big ouchies this week. First, he fell and skinned his knee while playing on the sidewalk. Later, that same day, he touched the back of the grill after we cooked some steaks. He burned three of his finger tips good enough to blister so we put some Johnson's & Johnson's burn strips on them. Unfortunately, he hated having band-aids stuck to his fingers more than the burns themselves, so we ended up putting socks on his hands to keep him from pulling at the blisters. Seems to be working so far...

IT'S A GIRL!!!!

Aberly Sophia Lobato was born at 2:24pm on Tuesday, August 21.

She weighed 7lbs 15oz, and was 21 1/4 inches long.

We're home from the hospital and everyone's doing well. Amy's folks are here helping out for the next week or two, so that makes things much easier. I'm sure Amy will talk to all of you at some point or another and tell you the whole story so I won't go into too much detail. In short, Aberly came out sunny-side up and turned coming down the chute, bruising her face pretty badly. It's almost all gone, but she was black-and-blue for about a day and pretty swollen. She's lighter and shorter than her brother was (he was 9lbs and 22 inches), but her feet are canoes -- they're bigger than her brother's feet were when he was 5 weeks old!

Below are some pics from the whole experience, as well as a picture of our friend Erica who came over today to see the new arrival. I also put up a picture of Aberly in her Notre Dame onesie. Gotta' start them off early, you know...

If anyone wants to see Ryan's pictures from his birth, here's a link to the page in our archives.

Silly kiddo

Ryan came out of his room the other day looking like this.... I guess we are gonna have to work on dressing yourself. (Nevertheless, I had to grab the camera) Silly little boy.

Back to the Beach

So after finding the beach of our dreams on Lake Michigan; Ryan, Ryan Patrick and I packed up the gear and heading off for a day at the beach. Ryan P loved the water, he never wanted to get out. We also enjoyed a picnic lunch and a little "bury me in the sand" time. I am ready to go back!!!

To the beach....

After visiting the Kid's Museum, we discovered an amazing beach across the street. Wish we had found this a few years ago...

Ryan wasn't too sure about getting in the water at first, but he finally decided he could do it all on his own.

kids Museum

We took Ryan Patrick to a Kid's Museum last week. He had so much fun. We played dress up, slid down a volcano, picked apples from an orchard and tons of other "cool" stuff. (if you are a two year old, of course.)
